From GP to Ayurvedic practitioner

After over 30 years working as a GP across Ireland and England, I began to realise that something was missing in the way we approach long-term health. Many of my patients were frustrated — not just with their symptoms, but with the dependency on medication to manage chronic illness. “But I don’t want to be taking tablets all the time,” was something I heard again and again.

That sparked a deeper search in me — a belief that there had to be a more holistic, empowering way to care for both body and mind. That’s when I discovered Ayurveda.

A personal journey into natural healing

Finding Ayurveda in my mid-50s was transformative. It helped me understand myself — physically, mentally, and spiritually — in ways modern medicine never had. I found new clarity in my relationships, my sense of purpose, and in the way I view health overall.

I used to wonder why some people aged gracefully while others struggled. Ayurveda answered these questions — not through guesswork, but through centuries of observation, natural medicine, and deep respect for the body’s own intelligence.

A soulful Irish connection

The name Anam Ayurveda reflects my Irish roots and spiritual background. “Anam” is the Irish word for Soul — and in both Celtic and Ayurvedic traditions, the soul is at the centre of true health.

My late father shared a deep interest in natural healing, Ayurvedic principles, and Celtic wisdom. In many ways, walking this path feels like reconnecting with him — and carrying forward something timeless.

“I believe that Ayurveda can have multiple benefits for us at any stage of our life, whether we suffer from disease or not.”— Dr Oscar O’Duchon

Your health is your greatest asset

We often don’t realise the true value of our health until we face illness or begin to age. But it’s never too late to take control. Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to living — helping you restore balance and build long-term wellness through natural medicine, personalised nutrition, and lifestyle changes tailored to your constitution. It changed my life — and I’d love to show you how it can change yours too.
